Zombies Just Want Hugs

Game Concept: Zombies Just Want Hugs is a strategical game where player takes control of a zombie and have to kill and infect humans to amass an army of zombies to take over the town. 
 
Team composition: 3 Designers, 2 Programmers and 2 Artist

Description of my work and responsibilities
  1. To ensure that the levels play an important part in the game.
  2. To continuously test the game, to find bugs and defects in the system and report it to the team for immediate removal. 
  3. To manage and organize the team to ensure that information is being passed to the correct person, in order for the project's progress to continue on without a hitch.
Team Management
The way i handled how the team communicate with each other is by having a weekly meeting, where we would come to discuss our weekly progress. I would also be the one taking down the minutes of the meeting for later references. If there were any setbacks in either department then we would all have to discuss and adjust our task in order to allow the people who are facing setbacks time to work it out.

Level Design

Level
The level is a large map that is segmented into 4 different areas with each segment of it is at the size of 50 x 60 tiles or squares.

The player’s starting position is randomly generated among the 4 segments every time they start the game which could put them in a favorable or unfavorable position.




Gate
There are gates in each segment where by to unlock it requires specific prerequisites before being able to move on to another segment of the map.

Unlocked parts of map
Segmented parts of the map that have already been unlocked can be traversed back again giving the player a larger play area to explore.

Center circle area
The center area of the map is locked at first and would remain a mystery until the player is able to unlock all the segmented parts of the map. A beam of light will shine down upon it to try and get the player to enter it whereby they will be taken to a different level to fight a boss. Sadly, this feature was unable to be implemented as we lack the art assets and the time needed to implement it.

QA Testing
We were able to get people from other teams to test out the game and provide feedback which we used to improve the game and/or fix bugs that they found. Thanks to their efforts we were able to eliminate most of the bugs.
